Unit 3 Projects

This project was similar to the animal sculpture project, however an important difference is that my monster would need to stand up, I achieved it's bipedal stance by mostly working the monster as a cylindrical shape. Another complexity was the many horned head.

For this slab tile, I needed to carve deeper, and build up on the clay. For my original tile I only lightly scribed into the clay, for this one I cut out shapes and attached them to the face of the tile, before coloring and firing it, in order to achieve 1/2" depth.

In this project I made a vase using similarly sized coils of clay, stacked on top one another and secured together. This was my first time using coils to build, and stacking so many elements securely. I used underglaze to paint the coils different colors, and added yellow dots, however the yellow underglaze was more watery than expected and ran a bit.
